Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder also known as ADHD is a common disorder often diagnosed in childhood and lasts into adulthood. Individuals with ADHD typically have difficulty focusing or paying attention and may experience hyperactivity, irritability, impulsivity, or mood swings. Because of these symptoms, children with ADHD often have difficulty excelling in school and may experience anxiety as a result.
Children with ADHD often present with impulsivity, hyperactivity, and difficulty paying attention. Cognitive skills such as working memory, organizational and planning skills, and divided or sustained attention may be compromised as well.
Children with ADHD can struggle to maintain emotionally regulated, which is the ability to effectively manage the way they feel and cope with situations. As a result of this, the child may become more easily upset when their needs or wants are not immediately met, making social interactions challenging at times.
